How it Started

Patients discharged from hospitals often face a decline in quality of life due to inadequate home care, leading to worsened conditions. In 1980, Cynthia Low, then Director of Nursing at the Chinese Maternity Hospital in Seremban, recognised this issue. With decades of nursing experience, she founded what was formerly known as Mercy Senior Care Centre in 1997 to provide holistic aftercare. Today, Mercy Nursing Home offers continuous physical, emotional, and mental support, ensuring all individuals who need us receive the care they need to lead fulfilling lives.

She joined Mèrcy in 2014 after witnessing the lack of professional care for her grandmother. With experience from NSCMH, she was inspired to ensure others have access to the compassionate care she couldn't provide for her own family.

Christina Vinnie Philips

Nursing Educator

Qualification: Diploma in Nursing
Christina's journey began with caring for a bedridden family member, which deepened her understanding of the needs of patients who need nursing care. Her exposure to the lack of comprehensive care at Tanjung Rambutan further fueled her passion for improving nursing care. Now, driven by this commitment, she ensures that Mercy Nursing Home continually adopts the latest and most effective caregiving methods through regular courses and workshops, offering a better solution for elderly individuals who require dedicated nursing care.

Nancy Lim

Operation Manager

Her commitment to the field grew from her own family's experience with cancer, which left her feeling helpless. This personal loss fueled her passion for nursing care. Nancy strives to help other families avoid the pain she went through, ensuring that everyone at the home receives the same level of care and attention she gave to her parents. She often personally reaches out to hesitant patients to encourage them to seek care, aiming to transform their lives positively. Nancy also played a key role in establishing the private nursing and caregiver services at the home, ensuring that all staff are well-trained and compassionate. Her goal is to help patients regain independence and live fulfilling lives, offering comfort and hope, especially to those facing serious illnesses.
